The following subjects are offered:

 

Main subject composition

Written examination (Duration 240 mins)

Oral examination (Duration 30 mins)

Additionally, there are also examinations in Compulsory subject piano and Compulsory subject aural training.

 

 

Main subject directing
Specialisation choir or orchestra conducting
(Duration up to 60 mins)

Independent of the choice of specialisation, all parts of the examination must be completed.

  1. Conducting and playing score of a prepared symphony or symphonic work.

Examples:

If a piece of music is chosen that is not listed in the above examples, sufficient parts must be brought with you (incl. scores for the examination panel).

 

  1. Conducting and playing a score of a prepared a capella choir piece

Examples:

There is generally a small vocal ensemble and piano available for a rehearsal of approx. 10 mins.

If an a capella choral work (maximum five parts) is chosen that is not listed in the above examples, sufficient parts must be brought with you (incl. scores for the examination panel).

 

  1. Playing from a piano transcript (prepared)
  1. Sight reading

 

  1. Compulsory subject piano

 

  1. Compulsory subject voice
  1. Performance of two pieces chosen by the student
  1. Discussion
  1. Compulsory subject aural training (Duration 60 mins)

Main subject voice with specialisation in opera (Duration 15 mins)

Furthermore, there also examinations in Music theory and Aural training.

 

From the 5th Semester of main subject piano, it is also possible to take the following additional main subjects:

Additional main subject song interpretation(Duration 15 mins)

 

Additional main subject chamber music(Duration 15 mins)

 

Additional main subject vocal accompaniment(Duration 20 mins)

Recommendation:

Mastering of basic cadence on piano, preferably in all major and minor keys and positions.
