Biographie:

Gary Kudo (Opernrepertoire) ist Japanisch-Amerikanischer Operenrepetitor, der in Los Angeles, Kalifornien geboren wurde. Er ist Sohn der Musikerin Kazue Kudo, die das japanische Saiteninstrument Koto spielte. Sie war damit aktive Musikerin in den Hollywoodstudios. Unter ihrer großen Anzahl von Hollywoodarbeit gehören die Filme Doctor Zhivago; Tora, Tora, Tora und Shogun.

Gary Kudo studierte Klavier, Kammermusik und Liedbegleitung an der Universität von Südkalifornien. Hier wurde er von Brooks Smith und Gwendolyn Koldofsky unterrichtet. Nach seinen Studien zog er nach New York City und arbeitete an der Juilliard school of Music, wo er für das Studio der besten Stimmlehrer New Yorks spielte. Zu dieser Zeit war er auch Direktor des „Young Artists“ Programms an der Sarasota Oper, Florida und an der Glimmerglass Oper, New York.

Gary Kudo war von 1989 bis 1996 Dozent an der Yale Universität, wo er mit Sängern Opernrepertoire einstudierte und Liederabende begleitete. Herr Kudo ist stolz darauf zu sagen, dass während seiner Amtszeit an der Yale Universität, George W. Bush nicht einer seiner Schüler war.

Gary Kudo ist seit 1996 Mitglied am Nathionaltheater Mannheim. Er besitzt ein umfangreiches Repertoire, welches alle Standardopern von Mozart, Richard Strauss, Puccini Bellini, Donizetti, Rossini und die zehn Wagneropern beinhält. Zusammen mit dem Nathionaltheater Mannheim unterrichtet Gary Kudo auch Opernrepertoire an der Musikhochschule Mannheim für Musik und Darstellende Kunst. Wegen seiner reichen Erfahrung arbeitet Gary Kudo regelmäßig mit zahlreichen Sängern, die an vielen der bekanntesten Theatern wie z.B. La Scala, Covent Garden, Deutsche Oper Berlin,Valencia, Dresden, Washington, Hamburg, Oslo, Toronto, Paris Opéra de la Bastille und der Wiener Staatsoper Hauptrollen singen.

Gary Kudo spricht Italienisch, Französisch, Deutsch und Englisch, lernte aber nie Japanisch zur Enttäuschung seiner Eltern.

Gary Kudo (Opera repertoire) is a Japanese-American opera-coach born in Los Angeles, California. Mr. Kudo is the son of a musician, his mother Kazue Kudo, played the koto, a Japanese stringed instrument. She was an active studio musician in Hollywood recording for diverse film soundtracks including Doctor Zhivago; Tora, Tora, Tora; and Shogun to name but a few.

Gary Kudo studied piano, chamber music, and Lieder accompaniment at the University of Southern California studying with Brooks Smith and Gwendolyn Koldofsky. After his studies he moved to New York City and worked at the Juilliard school of Music where he played for the vocal studios of the top voice teachers in New York. During this same time he served as Director of the Young Artist Programs at Sarasota Opera, Florida and at Glimmerglass opera in New York.

Gary Kudo was from 1989 until 1996 a Lecturer at Yale University teaching opera repertoire and accompanying Lieder recitals. Mr Kudo is proud to say that during his tenure at Yale University, George W. Bush was not one of his students.

Gary Kudo has been a member of the Nationalthater of Mannheim since 1996. He has an extensive repertoire which includes all the standard operas of Mozart, Richard Strauss, Puccini, Bellini, Donizetti, Rossini, and the ten Wagner operas.

Together with his work at the Nationaltheater Mannheim Mr. Kudo also teaches opera repertoire at the Mannheim Musikhochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst. Because of his broad experience Mr. Kudo works regularly with a large number of singers. Presently singers with whom he works are singing major roles in many of the world’s top theatres including La Scala, Covent Garden, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Dresden, Washington, Hamburg, Oslo, Toronto, Paris Opéra de la Bastille, Valencia,and the Wiener Staatsoper.

Gary Kudo speaks Italian, French, German, and English however never learned Japanese to his parent’s frustration.
